An Epidemiologic Study on the Offending Allergen of Allergic Respiratory Diseases in Urban and Rural Dweller


Abstract
The author performed MAST-CLA serum total Igl test with 35 Offending allergens in 250 cases of allergic respiratory diseases(bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis) concentrating special interested on the Urban and Rural dweller.
The following results were obtained
1. Positive reactions of offending allergens with determination of total IgE in serum by the MAST-CLA assay system were 207 cases in total 250 cases(82.8%), and 19 Kinds of allergen in 35 Kinds(54.2%)
2. Among them most frequent inhalant allergens and their positive rates were, House dust 27.2%, D.farinae 26.0%, D.pteronyssinus 13.6%, Dog-hair 14.0%, Cat-hair 12.4%, and the positive reaction rate of food allergens were 5 Kinds of allergen in 8 Kinds(62.5%), 13 cases in 250 cases(5.2%)
3. The positive reaction rate to inhalant allergens was not show any significant difference between Urban and Rural dweller
4. In age cases, the positive reaction rate of inhalant allergen(house dust. D.farinae) decreased stepwise with age.
5. In age and dwellers(Urban and Rural). positive reaction rate to house dust of 0-9 years. above 50 years, and D.farinae of 0-9 years, 10-19 years and Dog-hair of 40-49 years were significantly higher in Rural dweller than Urban .
